What is Sleeve Labeler | Features and Applications

sleeve labeler is a device used in the packaging industry specifically designed to apply shrink sleeves (usually plastic film) to product packaging, such as bottles, cans, or containers.

These labels can cover the product surface completely and, through the shrink process, fit snugly around the packaging container, providing 360-degree branding.

Shrink sleeve labels are widely used in industries like food, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals because they not only offer rich visual effects but also protect the product, clearly identify information, and have anti-counterfeiting features.

Working Principle and Structure of Sleeve Labelers

1. Label Supply System: First, the shrink film (usually made from PVC, PET, or OPS materials) is supplied from a roll and cut into sizes suitable for product packaging. This supply system ensures that the labels can be accurately and continuously provided to the application area.

2. Label Application Unit: The cut labels are applied around the product using mechanical or pneumatic devices. This process requires high precision, especially on high-speed automated production lines, to ensure that the label is accurately positioned on the neck or designated area of the container.

3. Conveyor System: Products are transported through a conveyor belt or rotary table to the shrink tunnel. The synchronization of the conveyor system is crucial, as it ensures the precise matching of products and labels while maintaining the continuity of the production line.

4. Heat Shrink Tunnel: After entering the heat shrink tunnel, hot air or steam in the tunnel evenly heats the plastic film around the product. The film tightly shrinks when heated, conforming perfectly to the shape of the product, achieving a precise packaging effect. Depending on the material of the label, the temperature and duration of the shrink process will vary.

Main Types of Sleeve Labelers

Manual Sleeve Labelers: Suitable for small-scale production, where operators manually apply the labels before using the shrink device for shrinking.

Semi-Automatic Sleeve Labelers: Some processes are automated, typically requiring manual placement of products, suitable for medium-volume production lines.

Fully Automatic Sleeve Labelers: A completely automated system ideal for large-scale industrial production, capable of efficiently and accurately completing high volumes of packaging needs.

Applications of Sleeve Labelers

1. Food and Beverage Industry: Commonly used for packaging bottled beverages, juices, and condiments, effectively showcasing rich brand information and product ingredients.

2. Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: Used for products like perfume bottles, shampoos, and body washes, sleeve labels are not only aesthetically pleasing but also help prevent tampering.

3. Pharmaceutical Industry: Frequently applied to bottles of medicine and eye drops, shrink sleeve labels ensure packaging integrity, anti-counterfeiting, and clarity of information.

4. Household and Daily Products: For liquid packaging like detergents and cleaning agents, shrink labels can prevent leaks and maintain the overall appearance.

 Advantages

360-Degree Design: Shrink labels can cover the entire product surface, making brand information and advertising more prominent.

Strong Adaptability: They can be applied to containers of various shapes and materials, suitable for complex structures like irregular bottles and cans.

Anti-Counterfeiting and Protection: The shrink film not only adds aesthetic value but also provides tamper-evident, waterproof, and anti-counterfeiting features.

Sleeve labelers are an indispensable part of modern packaging industries. With the continuous improvement in production efficiency and the growing demand for brand display, their application is becoming increasingly widespread across various sectors.
